Way back in January the City of Elgin agreed to begin 100% immigration screening by March 1st.
I was pleased to read this in the Courier News today:
Shooting suspect arrested

The Elgin Gang Crimes Unit has arrested a man wanted in a Feb. 15 shooting incident in the 400 block of Addison in which gunfire damage was found on the home's front door.
Jose L. Herrera, 21, was arrested in West Chicago and charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlaful use of a weapon.
He is being held on a $500,000 bond and awaiting a Monday bond hearing. He is also being detained for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

AFLA is pleased to see a high bond in the case and we are pleased that ICE has put a detainer on this suspect.
We encourage the city to continue screening. And we hope the news outlets will continue to cover these details.

For the record, an ICE hold doesn't necessarily mean the suspect is an illegal. It DOES mean that he will lose his right to be in the USA if convicted, and maybe even if he isn't convicted if the BIA judge finds he lacks the moral fiber to be in the USA.

ReplyDeleteObservers said she wasn't there, but she may have had her case moved to another court. We don't have an inside track on this so we're just piecing together observations.

DHS thru the ICE unit has offered a tollfree number to report illegal worksite locations. Pls help us help them DHS 2 ICE,that's866-dhs-2-ice. Let us get motoring and give these feds some help. Today I called the number to tell about the NUT company that employees illEgals. EVERYONE who is working this side of street should call 866-dhs-2-ice and do the same.
