The good news...

…they’re recycling.

The bad news…
…it looks like the set of Sanford and Sons.
Hiawatha Drive in Elgin.

Actually, there is a third pick up truck in the fleet but it wasn’t there this morning. It looks about the same as the other two.

The other bad news…
…the scrap is probably being sold to China so they can manufacture the products we buy.

Crazy world, isn’t it?

  1. Are the people who live in that house not legal Americans? I don't see the connection with this blog.

  2. Is the owner legal? Who knows? I think the point is a deterioration of the standard of living in Elgin. There was a committee of citizens formed by the city to study the parking issues. Their study included junk trucks, dump trucks, and other work vehicles parked in the neighborhoods in front of residences. After a few inconclusive meetings the city took the project back and will handle it themselves.
Like obscenity, it is tough to define but can be identified using community standards.
Most of us would be OK with a plumber's panel truck in the driveway. Few would be OK with two junk trucks next door. I suppose if you have a strong feeling about such issues one way or another, you should contact city hall.

  3. Unsightly as they are, these scrappers provide a much-needed service in many cities. In some suburbs, you have to buy a junk permit to pick someone's garbage. $$$. I wonder if these vehicles are lawful based on their appearance and alterations to their vehicle.

  4. The same thing applies here in Leyden Township (Just South of O'Hara Airport). Then they (5 to 7 wrecks) roam the streets on Thursday Nights, racing each other for the "Good" junk.

One of my biggest concerns is the condition of these wrecks they are turning loose on our streets, with the kids out walking and riding their bikes. (No sidewalks or curbs here)

Before the illegal immigration boom, we had one old man that came around. He was well known and liked by most. Actually some people would actually save junk for him and hand carry it out to him Thursday nights. Well he is gone, they drove him out.

Everything about this invasion is wrong, right down to garbage night!
